The President's (Code) Tip for Sunday 2/27

The President's (Code) Tip for Sunday 2/27

On November 22, 1963, when he was hardly past his first thousand days in office, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed by an assassin's bullets as his motorcade wound through Dallas, Texas. Kennedy was the youngest man elected President; he was the youngest to die.

Of Irish descent, he was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, on May 29, 1917. Graduating from Harvard in 1940, he entered the Navy. In 1943, when his PT boat was rammed and sunk by a Japanese destroyer, Kennedy, despite grave injuries, led the survivors through perilous waters to safety.

In 1956 Kennedy almost gained the Democratic nomination for Vice President, and four years later was a first-ballot nominee for President. Millions watched his television debates with the Republican candidate, Richard M. Nixon. Winning by a narrow margin in the popular vote, Kennedy became the first Roman Catholic President.

As President, he set out to redeem his campaign pledge to get America moving again. His economic programs launched the country on its longest sustained expansion since World War II; before his death, he laid plans for a massive assault on persisting pockets of privation and poverty.

His Inaugural Address offered the memorable injunction: " Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country."   I will be learning more about Selena and what she can do and offer her subscribers and guests in her 'About Me' section.

Petsitting.com - Free Resource for Dog Walking, Pet Daycares and More!

Recently, I have noticed that many of my senior clients have dogs and cats. However, I have been the one walking them, which I love by the way, but I started to wonder what they do when I'm not there. The poor little dog is probably wondering who will come next to take him out for a stroll or to go pottie.

This led me to think about myself and my three cats and other senior citizens with pets who may need a little helping hand from time-to-time. I know for myself I was looking for a good pet sitter for my cats and will need one later in the Summer when I'm on vacation. So, I did the work of finding that information ahead of time and now it's here for you as well.

The FREE resource is called Petsitting.com and they connect you with pet care providers in your local area. Petsitting.com has actually teamed up with all of the elite pet care professionals across the U.S. to give us this reliable resource.

Services currently offered include: dog walking, pet sitting, pet boarding, pet waste removal, dog training and doggie daycare.

Learn about the pet care providers in your area. You never know when you're going to need a helping hand for your furry side-kick.

The President's (Code) Tip for Saturday 2/26

The President's (Code) Tip for Saturday 2/26

With the assassination of President McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, not quite 43, became the youngest President in the Nation's history. He brought new excitement and power to the Presidency, as he vigorously led Congress and the American public toward progressive reforms and a strong foreign policy.

He took the view that the President as a "steward of the people" should take whatever action necessary for the public good unless expressly forbidden by law or the Constitution." I did not usurp power," he wrote, "but I did greatly broaden the use of executive power."

My youth differed sharply from that of the log cabin Presidents. I was born in New York City in 1858 into a wealthy family, but I too struggled--against ill health--and in his triumph became an advocate of the strenuous life. I recommend you visiting the 'Resource' section for help for your health!

The President's (Code) Tip for Friday 2/25

The President's (Code) Tip for Friday 2/25

Born in 1822, Grant was the son of an Ohio tanner. He went to West Point rather against his will and graduated in the middle of his class.

Grant maneuvered and fought skillfully to win Vicksburg, the key city on the Mississippi, and thus cut the Confederacy in two. Then he broke the Confederate hold on Chattanooga.

Lincoln appointed him General-in-Chief in March 1864. Grant directed Sherman to drive through the South while he himself, with the Army of the Potomac, pinned down Gen. Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia.

Finally, on April 9, 1865, at Appomattox Court House, Lee surrendered. Grant wrote out magnanimous terms of surrender that would prevent treason trials.

The President's (Code) Tip for Thursday 2/24

The President's (Code) Tip for Thursday 2/24

With the Assassination of Lincoln, the Presidency fell upon an old-fashioned southern Jacksonian Democrat of pronounced states' rights views. Although an honest and honorable man, Andrew Johnson was one of the most unfortunate of Presidents. Arrayed against him were the Radical Republicans in Congress, brilliantly led and ruthless in their tactics. Johnson was no match for them.

Entering politics, they say I became an adept stump speaker, championing the common man and vilifying the plantation aristocracy. As a Member of the House of Representatives and the Senate in the 1840's and '50's, I advocated a homestead bill to provide a free farm for the poor man.

You would find me browsing through the post from yesterday about 'Suze Orman's Free Will and Trust Kit' to see how I could provide this to our poor man to help them improve their lives.
