"The Older The Barn Gets...

Today I was a caregiver to a very nice lady, Margaret. She is very independent and does just about everything on her own. However, on this day, she wanted to make sure someone was in the house while she bathed to hear her if she fell. She had a strained nerve to contend with and it was getting better, but didn't want to take any chances.

So, after she finished getting dressed and putting her make-up and all on, she came out of the bathroom and said,

    "The Older the Barn gets the Longer it takes to Paint it"

I thought that saying was very unique because I had never heard it before. She said it was a southern term she heard in life. To me, I guess it means that the older one gets, the longer it takes to get all prettied up for the day. One doesn't have the speed they used to. However, from the male perspective, I think a lot of women take a long time in the bathroom anyway...

Have you heard of it before? Do you know what it means, exactly? I would love to hear your interpretation.

She said, "Something in my Head Told Me To Give It Time"

          I recently got the chance to sit down and talk with one of my seniors and she started to tell me a story about one of the gentleman who she was dating years and years ago. She said that she never had to worry about being jealous or thinking that her eventual husband was cheating or anything because she wouldn't put up with that kind of thinking when she was dating. She then went on to speak about one gentleman who we will call the "Give It Time Guy".

           One weekend she went out of town and soon realized that the man whom she was dating was very possessive and wanted to control her every move so much that he followed her out of town. She then realized that this wasn't the type of man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. Unfortunate for him, she dumped him then and there because of his character.

       Nugget of Wisdom: If the shoe fits wear it, otherwise put it back on the shelf and keep looking.
